Aamir Khan too is working on getting his diction and pronunciation in Haryanvi for his part as a wrestler inDangal.Incidentally, his nephew Imran Khan, who played a Haryanvi inMatru Ki Bijli Ka Mandola,has also confessed to how he had a tough time learning the tongue. Shahid Kapoor is said to have learnt the basics of Haryanvi too for a forthcoming film. Mumbai being home to B-Town, a number of actors have played Maharashtrians in various movies.
Kareena Kapoor Khan learnt basic conversational Marathi for her role as a fiery Maharashtrian mulgi inSingham Returns.Her co-star Ajay Devgn, learnt the lingo from his wife Kajol for his first outing asBajirao Singhamand last year, brushed up his pronunciation for the sequel. Priyanka Chopra, who spoke some Marathi lines in Kaminey, is also said to have some dialogue in the language in Bajirao Mastani. It is her mother tongue. However, Bebo hardly speaks any Punjabi. The actress recently took lessons forUdta Punjab.
Amitabh Bachchan, whose preparation or his characters impresses his directors immensely, worked on his language and pronunciation forPiku. Deepika Padukone, who played his daughter, too worked on her Bengali dialect for the movie. Previously, the actress learnt Marathi forHappy New Yearand Tamil to play Meenamma Lochini Azhagusundaram inChennai Express.
