Seventy-two-year-old Koduri Ventaka Vijayendra Prasad is sitting at his home near Hi-Tec City in Hyderabad and savouring the success of two of the year's biggest films, which have together collected more than Rs 450 crore. Prasad, who has penned the stories of both Salman Khan-starrer 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' and director S S Rajamouli's 'Bahubali', however, has one unfulfilled desire: he wants to visit Pakistan.

Like the lead character played by Salman in 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' - who crosses over illegally into Pakistan to take a little girl back to her parents - Prasad too wants to enter Pakistan (but legally). "If only someone can invite me to Pakistan, I want to visit that country," Prasad told TOI on Wednesday. "Nothing has gone drastically wrong in the relationship between India and Pakistan at the moment. That's why the film has been received so well. The film can build bridges. But it's easy for interested parties to spoil the relationship - and that should not be allowed to happen."

Prasad, who is also Rajamouli's father, said 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' had built a new bridge between the two South Asian neighbours. He, however, sounded a note of caution. "The relationship between the people of both the nations, carefully nurtured over a long period of time, can rupture within minutes by someone who can deliberately create a wedge between the people," he said, expressing hope that the film would help bring people closer than ever before.

How did he get these story ideas? "Real-life incidents inspire me to pen stories for films," Prasad said. "But if you watch 'Bhajrangi Bhaijan' and 'Bahubali', they are quite different films. While the latter has violence, the former is completely different with a lot of emotion. I knew the story would make for a very good film, but Salman playing the lead role took it to the masses. The hero is important."

In the case of 'Bahubali', too, Prasad did not want to take the credit. "It should go to the director," he said. The film's collections have crossed Rs 300 crore since it was released on July 10.

So far the best compliment he has got for 'Bahubali' came when he recently went to Kovvur in West Godavari to take a dip during the Godavari Pushkaralu. "I heard a family hurl abuses at the 'writer' of 'Bahubali'," he said. "Since the film had a suspense-filled ending, they complained it would be frustrating for them to wait for the second part. I did not identify myself, but their anger was a compliment for me."
