Release of Madhur Bhandarkar's film might be delayed as he is believed to be at loggerheads with the Censor Board over retaining some cuss words Almost three weeks after the Censor Board rejected a song from his upcoming film 'Calendar Girls' for television viewing, Madhur Bhandarkar is apparently unhappy over further censorship.

Sources say the Board's examining panel has asked him to delete 10 cuss words from the film to secure a U/A certificate, but Madhur is set to approach the revising committee today. Given that the review procedure is cumbersome, 'Calendar Girls' may not make it to the theatres on August 7.

An insider says, "Madhur had kept a screening for Board members last Wednesday and they have asked him to delete a few expletives like wh*** and bi***, to and mute some other words, if he wishes to secure a U/A certificate. They didn't ask for any visual cuts though. So, now, he has decided to apply for a review, which might affect its timely release."

Sources close to the filmmaker say that he is ready to mute some words because deleting them altogether will water down the impact of a given scene. "So, he wants to go to the revising committee and request for a U/A certificate. As of now, the Board has said that the film will be awarded an 'A' certificate should he insist of retaining all the cuss words," adds the source.

Earlier, reports suggested that Madhur was forced to remove a nude scene from the trailer before it was aired on television, but he had denied the buzz while admitting to have made certain changes to it for the small screen audience.

The film's makers could not be reached for comment.
