For many Bollywood artistes, festivals are a big opportunity to make lots of dough. But Vidya Balan seems to be an exception. The actress has rejected a few invitations from Navratri organisers seeking her presence at garba events.

`Over the last one month, organisers from Ahmedabad, Surat and Pune have approached Vidya for dandiya nights in Gujarat. They were willing to give her a hefty cheque for an appearance. However, she has rejected all offers and in fact, suggested that they could spend the money towards social causes, including children's education and sanitation campaigns,` informs a source close to the actress.


It is said that Vids had accepted a Dahi Handi invitation last year only after the organiser agreed to make donations for the treatment of girls battling heart ailments. `She has been trying to convince organisers to do the same for Navratri too,` adds the source.

Vidya was unavailable for comment, but her spokesperson confirmed the news.
