Extending support to the nation-wide sanitation movement spearheaded by the Indian government, actor Purab Kohli has associated himself with Habitat for Humanity India in their campaign to eradicate the problem of open defecation.

On the occasion of World Toilet Day on Thursday, Purab will engage with his fans and address their queries on Twitter. Fans can tweet to Purab on his Twitter handle @Purab_Kohli between 4:30-5 p.m. on that day.

Commenting on the initiative, Purab said in a statement: "Open defecation is a serious concern. With about half of her citizens defecating in the open, India needs to build lakhs of toilets. I sincerely believe that all of us need to contribute to overcome this challenge."

He has also appreciated the campaign by Habitat for Humanity India for taking up the mission of building 100,000 toilets across the country.

Thanking Purab for his support, Rajan Samuel, managing director, Habitat for Humanity - India, said that "access to toilets is also critical for human development and we must strive for it".

"Everyone has a role to play if we want a Swachh Bharat and put an end to open defecation by 2019. In addition to hardware, software for individual, community and school toilets, 'heartware' will play a pivotal role in ensuring an attitudinal and behavioural change. By showing his support, Purab has provided us with this heartware and thanks to him we can now take our World Toilet Day campaign to a larger audience."

Habitat for Humanity India is a part of Habitat for Humanity International, a global non-governmental organisation that seeks to eliminate poverty housing and to make adequate shelter a matter of conscience and action.
