American director Param Gill will helm the project, which highlights the controversial life of the politician Pappu Yadav

Param Gill, an American director of Indian origin, known for Hollywood film, Going to America, has acquired the rights for a biopic on well-known politician, Pappu Yadav.

The film is based on a book penned by Amarnath Jha, who has also written the screenplay of the project. Talking about why he chose to make a film on Yadav, Gill says, "The crests and troughs in the politician's life make for a perfect commercial potboiler. He fought for the rights of the backward caste and the world needs to know his story.`

The casting of the film is underway and will be finalised soon.

Who is Pappu Yadav
Pappu Yadav has won elections to the Lok Sabha in 1991, 1996, 1999 and in 2004 from several constituencies in Bihar and is currently the leader of the Jan Adhikar Party. In February 2008, a special CBI court convicted Yadav in the CPM leader Ajit Sarkar murder case, along with former legislator Rajan Tiwari and criminal Anil Yadav.

On April 2, 2009, the Patna High Court rejected Yadav's plea to be allowed to contest the 2009 parliamentary election because he had been convicted for murder. During the 2010 Bihar assembly elections, Pappu Yadav along with Anil Yadav and Rampravesh Rai were expelled from the Rashtriya Janata Dal for anti-party activity. On May 17, 2013, Pappu Yadav was acquitted by the Patna High Court in the Sarkar murder case for want of evidence. The court also directed the authorities to release Yadav from jail if he was not wanted in any other case.
