Rakesh Roshan's much awaited film "Krrish", a sci-fi thriller starring Hrithik Roshan in the title role, is set to hit the screens Friday.

The film is a sequel to the hit "Koi... Mil Gaya" and carries forward the story of Rohit and Nisha who are married and have a kid. The two die in a car accident and their kid, who is brought up by his grandmother, becomes a superhero.

The story goes like this:

Krishna Mehra (Hrithik Roshan), a man with extraordinary strength, speed and intelligence, lives in a small village with his grandmother (Rekha) and loves the calmness and beauty of the mountains that surround the village.

Enter Priya (Priyanka Chopra), a Singapore-based journalist who comes to the mountains for camping and trekking. Krishna falls in love with her and is heartbroken when she leaves.

His grandmother forces him to go to Singapore to meet Priya and bring her back. On reaching there, Krishna finds himself in a completely new and fascinating world and adapts to it quickly. He makes new Chinese friends and meets Priya too.

One day while exploring the city he reaches a circus and, as ill luck would have it, due to a short circuit the tent catches fire trapping some performers inside.

Krishna knows he can save them but he doesn't want to reveal his identity, therefore he hides himself behind a mask. He spectacularly saves all of them, becoming a hero.

A nationwide search is launched in Singapore to find this new hero called Krrish.

The movie basically shows how Krishna deals with his power and saves the world from a villain played by Naseeruddin Shah.

Initially, the director wanted to cast Amrita Rao in the role of Priya, but when he saw Priyanka's performance in a special screening of "Aitraaz", (2004) he was impressed enough to cast her instead.

Aishwarya Rai was also considered for the role.

Hrithik has done some fantastic stunts in the film. His character can leap 30 feet in the air and Hrithik received special training in Hong Kong for the leaps.

While shooting, Hrithik got injured twice - the first time he suffered a hamstring tear in his right leg during a circus scene and the second time he broke his right thumb and a toe during strenuous training for the ambitious wirework used in the film. He also singed his hair while running through fire in another action scene.

The Roshans have invested around Rs.500 million in their ambitious project and the major part was splurged on special effects.

A lot is at stake for Hrithik, who has not given any hit lately.

However, the audiences seem to be in a receptive mood and are accepting new ideas generously. So chances are that "Krrish" may have a great opening and strike gold at the box office.
