Taapsee Pannu is immersing herself in research for her role in "Ghazi", which will trace the journey and the mysterious sinking of PNS Ghazi, a Pakistan submarine, during the Indo-Pak 1971 war on the silver screen.

The actress is excited over the mystery element in the storyline, and says the audience should brace for a thrilling ride with the film.

"After meeting the director of the film, I was pretty intrigued that it's such a mysterious chapter in our history. I searched some facts about the 1971 war and PNS Ghazi which did take me by surprise and also made me appreciate the kind of research the director did when he penned the script.

"It will be quite a ride for the audience to see this movie," Taapsee said in a statement.

The Hindi-Telugu bilingual is based on the true incidents on the mysterious sinking of PNS Ghazi. It will be directed by debutant Sankalp, and will be partially based on his own book Blue Fish.

The story is about an executive naval officer of the Indian submarine S21 and his team who remain underwater for 18 days. It also stars Rana Daggubati.
