Filmmaker Subhash Ghai cast Jackie Shroff, an aspirant for villain's roles as the male protagonist in "Hero" more than two decades ago which was a runaway success.

Jackie then stepped into the film industry as a villain in 'Swamidada'. With this, Jackie's desire to become a villain in Hindi movies ended and the industry got a new hero along with the likes of Sunny Deol, Anil Kapoor and others who made a splash in movies in the eighties.

Now, Subhash Ghai who is Jackie's mentor, has cast him as a villain in his upcoming production 'Mera Sapna Money Money'. The film is directed by Sangeet Sivan.

"When I debuted as a villain in Swamidada, I wanted to continue as a villain because there were so many heroes around. I feared that I might not get work. But, Subhashji cast me as a hero in his film. Now, he has cast me as a comic villain in his upcoming production," Jackie told.

The actor now enjoys playing negative roles. "I always wanted to be a villain," he says.

In Tolu Bajaj's 'Nakshya' he is a villain opposite Sunny Deol. While in Vidhu Vinod Chopra's 'Eklavya', he plays a negative role opposite the likes of Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan and Sanjay Dutt.

"I have just completed these movies, where I play out and out villainous characters. Besides, in Punam Sinha's 'Mera Dil Lekar Dekho', I am in a comedy role for the first time. The film will be released shortly," he said.

Jackie is all set to play the villain again in Feroz Khan's 'Kurbani' which is a remake of his earlier blockbuster 'Qurbani'. Jackie will play the character of Raka, which was immortalised by late Amrish Puri. While Fardeen Khan will step into his father's (Feroz) shoes by playing the role essayed by the Khan senior in the previous film.

Jackie has earlier played villain in 'Mission Kashmir' and 'Boom'. He will essay the character of an underworld don Mashhoor Amrohi's contemporary romantic comedy 'Hum Laakh Chhupayein Pyaar Magar'.

"It is a guest appearance and I play a club owner,"says Jackie.

"His character is that of a suave London-based gangster who gets caught up in situations," reveals Mashhoor.

Mashhoor's maiden venture deals with today's youth and their happy-go-lucky lifestyles. While Mashhoor, apart from playing the main lead, has written the story and screenplay, the film is being produced by his father Tajdar Amrohi.
