'Jai Gangaajal' gets a good start

Prakash Jha's `Jai Gangaajal`, which stars actress Priyanka Chopra as a police officer, has collected Rs.5.5 crore pan-India on its opening day.

According to the makers of the film, `Jai Gangaajal`, which released on Friday, had a production cost of Rs.18 crore.

On the promotion front, the makers disclosed that a sum of Rs.7 crore was spent on the film's promotion and advertising.

The film is a sequel of the 2003 crime film `Gangaajal`, and also features actors Manav Kaul, Rahul Bhat and Queen Harish with Jha himself appearing in a supporting role.

On Thursday, Jha held a special screening of `Jai Gangaajal` for some IPS officers, considering Priyanka's IPS officer role in the film, while the actress promoted the film through Skype, with some publications.

The film was co-produced by Prakash Jha Productions and Play Entertainment.
