Filmmaker Ayan Mukerji is believed to have put in a good word for Katrina Kaif with Karan Johar

What's a mutual friend in the midst of a break-up to do? Post Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif's alleged split, their mutual friends may not have been as friendly with the actress as earlier, but the actor's best buddy, Ayan Mukerji seems to be still fond of Kat. The grapevine is abuzz with rumours of the filmmaker recommending Katrina's name for one of Karan Johar's upcoming productions.

Says a source, "Ayan became good friends with Katrina after she and Ranbir started dating. The trio would often be spotted partying or simply catching up at each other's houses. However, after rumours of their break-up started doing the rounds, Ayan and Ranbir were seen hanging out together minus Katrina. Now, Ayan has recommended Katrina's name to his good friend KJo for his next project."


Karan apparently is keen to cast A-list actors for a couple of his forthcoming films, including Tarun Mansukhani's next directorial. Katrina and Ayan remained unavailable for comment. An industry insider confirms the story, saying, "Notwithstanding their break-up, Katrina has stayed in touch with Ayan.

In fact, he was overheard discussing their relationship at a party. Recently, when he got to know about Karan's requirement, he suggested Katrina's name. On her part, she has had a meeting with KJo's team, but nothing has been finalised yet."
