As a mark of protest for refusal by her filmmakers to accept her new name Sherlyn Chopra, the actress came to the music release of her forthcoming film 'Game' dressed in a black burkha.

"My earlier name Mona Chopra was associated with a couple of down market films I did. Now, I am Sherlyn Chopra and Sherlyn does only classy films.

While I'm trying my best for an image makeover by signing the right projects, it pains me a lot to see that the makers of 'Game' simply refuse to change my name from Mona to Sherlyn in the title credits, posters, brochures and all the other publicity material," the actress lamented.

"For days at end, the makers kept on asking me to attend the music release. But at the same time, they were adamant not to accept my name change in the publicity material. These are double standards.

I did not want to turn down their umpteen requests to attend, so I decided to be there but not to show my face for the promotion of the film. This is my silent protest to make them realize my point," Sherlyn added.

When some media persons at the event pointed out to her that she might invite the wrath of the conservative Muslim community for wearing a burkha, Sherlyn shot back, "I have worn a burkha off and on since childhood. My mother wears a burkha often".

Just for the record, Sherlyn is half-Muslim and half-Christian with Persian origins and a Punjabi surname.
