Bollywood superstar, Anushka Sharma turned 30 today and she chose this day as an opportunity to announce a project very close to her heart - building an animal shelter.

The star who often posts pictures with her labrador 'Dude' will be building the shelter on the outskirts of Mumbai.

In a birthday tweet, she said that she is inspired by the Dalai Lama and wanted to do her bit to give 'fellow living beings equal rights, equal care and equal love.'

She wrote, "I'm building an animal shelter just outside Mumbai - a home for those animals that are stranded, left to fend for themselves, have to brave harsh surroundings. A home where they will be cared for, loved, protected and nurtured.

Meanwhile, the 'Zero' star, who recently wrapped the shooting of 'Sui Dhaaga', is currently accompanying husband Virat Kohli for the Indian Premier League (IPL) tournament.
