The film is inspired by hockey legend Sandeep Singh's life and has got clearance across all territories in Pakistan.
Soorma is one such film which has got no cuts or mutes from Kuwait censor board. It has been a long time since Kuwait released a film with no cuts, almost in a decade.
Ace hockey player Sandeep was paralyzed for 2 years and had almost finished his Hockey career after the dreadful experience, but it was his determination and love for the game brought him back and he won several medals for our country. Director Shaad Ali who has directed the movie said, "This movie is not restricted to Indian audience but people across the world will get inspired by Sandeep's story. It is an inspiring story that recalls one chapter of our nation's success in the field of Hockey. As a director, I couldn't have been more happy than to have my film receive clearance for release. It is probably after a decade that an Indian film will release in Kuwait without any cuts or mutes. It is heartening that our labor of love will be screened in Kuwait and in territories across Pakistan"
The film which released today has been garnering rave reviews for its inspiring story and Diljit's performance.
The film acquires almost 80% of Pakistani screens.
Sandeep's story is so inspirational that a Bollywood biopic is being made on his life where his role is portrayed by actor/singer Diljit Dosanjh.
Sandeep is regarded as the most dangerous drag-flickers of all time with drag speeds of over 145 km/hr which led to his nickname, 'Flicker Singh'.
The drag-flickers journey - of wins, losses, life, and death - will soon be seen on-screen in Soorma, a Shaad Ali directorial, starring Diljit Dosanjh and Taapsee Pannu.
Produced by Sony Pictures Networks Productions, Chitrangda Singh, and Deepak Singh, Soorma is written & directed by Shaad Ali which has released all over today.
