Slamming veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah who called him a "clown" and a "sycophant", Anupam Kher on Wednesday said that his co-star had spent his entire life in frustration despite a successful career.

The statement came against the backdrop of Shah's interview with an online news portal in which he had called Kher a sycophant and a clown.

Anupam Kher shared the video and launches a scathing attack against the veteran actor, whom he said had criticized other actors too in the past but was not taken seriously because of the "substances" Shah had been consuming for years that prevented him from distinguishing right from wrong.

While sharing the video the actor wrote, "जनाब नसीरुदिन शाह साब के लिए मेरा प्यार भरा पैग़ाम!!! वो मुझसे बड़े है। उम्र में भी और तजुर्बे में भी। मै हमेशा से उनकी कला की इज़्ज़त करता आया हूँ और करता रहूँगा। पर कभी कभी कुछ बातों का दो टूक जवाब देना बहुत ज़रूरी होता। ये है मेरा जवाब। 🙏"

In the interview, Shah had said that Kher should not be taken seriously and "sycophantic nature" is in his blood.

Responding to Shah's statements, Kher said, "If you are able to grab headlines by criticizing me then I gift you this happiness. I wish God keeps you happy. And you know what is in my blood? It is Hindustan (India) in my blood."
