Bollywood industry saw a recent loss of a young and successful actor and this loss felt so personal to most of us. It has sent shock waves not just through the industry but even to the youth of today's time. It has led to intense discussions on mental health awareness. Actress Ruchi Malviya who's work we've previously seen in Bejoy Nambiar's Flip and Alt Balaji's Verdict, has recently showcased the importance of creating an awareness on mental health in her short film called 'Trap' which is out digitally on HumaraMovies. The short film has been self directed and shot by her within the confines of her home.

The film entails the moments and sequences in a day of someone's life who's suffering through a mental illness, who's suffering through depression and is probably having a tough time living with the inner demons.

When asked Ruchi about the character and the concept of the film, Ruchi said, "The times we are living in are tough and uncertain and hence anxiety and depression can creep in as an uninvited guest. Your mind is also a part of your body then why treat it any different. We should definitely seek help if and when required like we do for any other physical ailment. It's time we eliminate the taboo associated with mental health. I as an artist just wanted to use my skills to the best of my ability to bring about some awareness under the worldwide circumstances. It's our duty to look after ourselves first and then only we are capable of extending a helping hand towards others in need."

The short film gives out a powerful message. These are stressful times. But Don't be afraid to reach out. Don't be afraid to ask for help. Don't be afraid to extend a helping hand. Don't be trapped.
