Rajshree Thakur, better known as Saloni of 'Saat Phere' walks down the memory lane and tells us about her fascinating journey of Darjeeling when she was just a kid. Here's what she had to say in her own words.

"I remember this place in Darjeeling. I think it was around 15 years ago. I don't remember the time exactly though. It was a family trip. At that time I was pretty young, so did not know too much about places but my father had made the decision to make a trip to that place, since we had never been to any place in North India.

Believe me it is beautiful out there. It was a great experience for me since it was the first time I had been to such a beautiful place. Darjeeling was so spacious and the weather there was so nice that I really cannot describe in words. In Mumbai where do you get such cool weather?

We enjoyed every moment there, and I really cannot tell you which moment was better than the other. Every day was a new experience for me. I cannot tell you exactly which place it was, may be it was the Kanchenjunga, but the sunrise was awesome there. The sight was so pretty.

Even before the sun would rise, we could see the orange rays getting reflected from the ice-capped mountains. I cannot stay in the cold for a long time but for the sight I kept stand in the chilling cold weather.

There were good restaurants there but I'm not a foodie, so I really did not bother where we were eating. I only wanted my plain rice, dal, roti where ever I went and that was enough.

I really recommend people to go and visit Darjeeling at least once. Even I want to be back there even after so many years. Darjeeling is a place where one can cherish every moment with nature.

So all that I want to say is that, don't go to Darjeeling just for the heck of taking a vacation. Do it if you really want to enjoy yourself, if you really want to be away from the daily hustle and bustle of life and be close to nature. - As told to Mili Swarnakar (SAMPURN)
