'Churail' word is mostly referred to a female ghost out of Hindu folklore, she appears either as a hideous creature with long sagging breasts and unkempt hair or as a beautiful young woman who can charm any man. If you believe in Churails then, Zindagi original series will surely remind you of an unapologetic side of women. But here Churails doesn't mean female ghost or witch but here the word is referred to a vicious side of women that is referred to as Churails by society. The story of Churails' is about 4 Pakistani women who luckily collide with each other and then form a detective agency together to teach a lesson to the unfaithful men of Pakistan.

Set in Karachi, Pakistan, the story starts with an introduction to Sara's character (Sarawat Gilani), a famous lawyer, Jugnu Chaudhary (Yasra Rizvi), a popular wedding planner, Battol (Nimra Bucha), who has already been sentenced to 20 years in jail for her husband's murder, and Zubaida (Meher Bano) a boxer. All these women have been affected by men in some way or the other. Together, they run a detective agency with the help of a boutique selling burqas where several women meet these four to spy on their husbands. Then starts a game which creates panic throughout the nation of Pakistan. Whether it is politicians or the common people these four Burkha women create a ruckus with their efforts in the country. In the end, it is interesting to watch a different side of these women as Churails hook you up till the end of each episode.

Director Aseem Abbasi has written a modern story wrapped in a veneer, which expresses the desire and compulsion of women, as well as their empowerment. Aseem Abbasi is a promising writer-director of Pakistan and Churails is his masterpiece.

On the performance front, Mehar Bano, Sarawat Geelani, Nimra Bucha, and Yesra Rizvi, as well as all the artists including Meher Jaffrey, Omair Rana, Adnan Malik, Iman Suleman, Anoush Abbasi, have also done a great job. Each actor has performed his/her respective roles with conviction which makes the characters relatably convincing.

Somehow, this series throws light on some known facts about society, which are universal. With a powerful storyline and nuanced performances, Churails strikes a chord.

Overall, despite being set in Pakistani backdrop, this series showcases the reality that puts married men on a pedestal and raises a question mark on their loyalty. Don't mistake it for a male-bashing series, as Churails is a well-conceived drama with enough elements of comedy and action that make it a binge-worthy ride of ten episodes.
