Ronit Roy is back with more energy with the sequel of Disney Plus Hotstar's Hostages titled "Hostages 2". This season kicks off from the climax of the first season that shows retired SP Prithvi Singh's motives behind doing what he did. A videotape reveals that Prithvi's mother in law was raped by CM Handa and hence he is the biological father of Prithvi's wife Saba Singh (Shriswara Dubey).

Knowing all this initially, Prithvi wanted to kill CM Handa but he didn't do so as his wife needed a bone marrow transplant as earliest to survive, and CM Handa was the only hope for this surgery. By each passing day, Saba's condition deteriorates hence, Prithvi decides to leave the city for her immediate surgery with Aman (Aashim Gulati) who is Saba's brother, Sara George (Faezeh Jalali) who is Saba's caretaker, and Peter George (Amit Sial) who is a hospital's morgue in-charge.

On the way to the new city, Saba's condition becomes worse hence everybody decides to take a halt and they rush to an abandoned building. Soon the Anti-Terrorism Cell gets a lead that something is fishy in that building and in no time a team of officials surrounds the area and then enters Ayesha Khan (Divya Dutta), an ATS officer and intelligent negotiator, with her super amazing performance. Now the poor guy, Prithvi along with his team, becomes hostage; and this game becomes more dangerous.

The crime-thriller web-series Hostages 2 is directed by Sudhir Mishra and Sachin Mamta Krishn, who have done a great job. The story is gripping and engaging that discloses various sub-stories over its 12 episodes. The interesting plot keeps you on the edge of your seat from beginning till the end with top-notch performances by the star cast. Apart from direction, the screenplay of this series offers many twists and turns that don't even let you blink an eye and you flow with the characters.

As far as the performance is concerned, Ronit Roy as Prithvi Singh turns out to be a show-stealer once again and Divya Dutta also emerges as a winner here. These guys carry the characters they play on-screen with much heft and their body language & stellar dialogue delivery uplifts the story.

Dino Morea, in the role of a cold-blooded assassin, gets the attention with his suave moves and cocky yet cool personality. Shibani Dandekar and Shweta Basu Prasad too do complete justice with their respective characters in supporting roles.

All in all, Hostages 2 is a smartly placed crime-thriller drama that comes up with various twists and turns. If you are one of the suspense thriller lovers, then this web-series should be on the top of your bucket list of 'binge-watch series'.
