Quentin Tarantino the filmmaker whose Reservoir Dogs 'inspired' Sanjay Gupta's Kaante, was flattered when he saw the film, Kaante, which is a complete rip-off of Reservoir Dogs.

In an interview by a short film director Srinivas at the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles, Tarantino commented on the many rip-offs including Kaante saying that it was fabulous. Of the many rip-offs of Reservoir Dogs he loves Hong Kong's Too Many Ways To Be No.1 and Kaante.

Tarantino also felt that Kaante had more flexibility in its narration, than Reservoir Dogs. He says, that the film did well in going into each character's background. At many places it seems to him that Kaante is not even close to Reservoir dogs but then it goes into the warehouse scene and back to Reservoir Dogs'.

Tarantino also praised Amitabh Bachchan ("the big beard guy... the famous guy in Bollywood") Sanjay Gupta amusedly saysthat when he heard Quentin Tarantino had said good things about Kaante, he thought people were mocking him when someone e-mailed him the interview.

"After being ripped by critics for re-making Reservoir Dogs. being praised to the skies by the guy who not only made the original but also some of the finest contemporary American films is flattering," says Sanjay.
