It was way back in 1972 that the film ‘Journey... Bombay to Goa' had been made. It was the first major film for Amitabh Bachchan in a lead role and was the legendary comedian Mehmood who had given this opportunity to the then struggling Amitabh.

Cut to 2007, 35 years later, the memories are being refreshed. A film ‘Journey... Bombay to Goa' is being made again. Producer Humayun Rangila says, "This is neither a remake nor a sequel of the original hit. The story is different, the music is different and so are the characters. The only thing that is common is the name."

‘Journey.... Bombay to Goa' will be an out and out comedy film with a lot of comedians from laughter champions apart from existing names like Tinu Anand, Asrani, Jagdeep, Dinesh Hingu, Biju Khote and Sudhir Pandey. Directed by Raj Pendurkar under the banner HR Enterprise, it is a sincere effort to give comedy a different dimension.

The lead role in the film is a bus which goes on its journey from Bombay to Goa. This bus is unique and custom designed. The front portion of the bus is designed like a kangaroo, while the roof is German-styled and the interiors have unique mirrors which deface the image of the person.

Mehmood was the conductor in the film and the driver's role was played by his brother Anwar. In this film, laughter champion winner Sunil Pal plays the conductor and Vijay Raj the driver, who is also Sunil's brother in law in the film.

The story revolves around Sunil Pal's dream to own a travel and tourism agency. Thus, he starts though this bus which has been designed by Vijay Raj and sometimes a worry for Sunil.

Sunil wants all kinds of comfort for his passengers and wants them to stay entertained and thus, he has all the possible facilities in the vehicle. The first trip that the bus makes is from Bombay to Goa and hence the name of he film.

In this journey, the bus passengers belong to different castes and races. Cricketer, bar girl, bar owner, poet, terrorist, writer, quvali singer – all is passengers of this bus.

As a result, there are varied emotions involved; joy, sorrow, love, fright tension. Each character has its own story and things don't seem to be running smoothly, but it is light hearted. Due to the closure of a bar in Mumbai, the bar owner is taking the girls to Goa.

Raju Shrivastav is a writer and wants to write a book in tourism but get engaged in the happening in the bus. There is a terrorist in the bus, but Raju gets stuck and then what happens to him is total comedy.

The entire story line is fresh and there is newness in the music too. The lyrics have been written by Shabbir Ahmed and music is composed by Nitin Shankar. The title song of the film has been sung by Bappi Lahiri.

The other stars of the movie includes Sanjay Mishra, Ehsaan Qureshi, Aasif Sheik, Dipak Shirke, Ranjeet, Aniruddh Agarwal, Dipak Raja, Banwari Lal Jhol, Macmohan, Parag Kansara, Dharsi Berodia, Khayli, Mustaq Khan, Bharat Kapoor and Shakti Kapoor.

All these artists have already proved their mettle at the ‘Laughter Challenge' and now they have put in their best to prove their stand in Bollywood.
