This is how small banes cross you at times.

Garam Masala actress Neetu Chandra was supposed to star opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Yash Raj Films' upcoming venture, Chak De India, but Yash Raj Films and director Shimit Amin decided to cast Vidya Malavade. Neetu was the first choice for the role.

Shah Rukh plays an ageing hockey coach in the film, who takes a group of girls to the heights of world hockey.

Neetu was supposed to be a girl keen to play with the hockey team but not getting the approval of her parents.

Everything seemed to be going well when Neetu met Shimit a couple of times, but then out of nowhere one day she was told that she was being replaced by Vidya."

Neetu admits that she had auditioned for Chak De and Shimit was considering her for the role but apparently after the release of Traffic Signal, the makers felt that she deserved a bigger role. All the eleven girls in the film have an equal role. Also Shimit required a fresh face and she respected his requirement.

Chandra is not feeling bad at missing a chace to cast opposite Shah Rukh but she is optimistic to wotk with SRK in the future!

Meanwhile, Neetu has signed a three-film contract with Ashtavinayak Films.
