The Mumbai Police have intensified their investigation into the firing incident outside actor Salman Khan's residence in April, registering a new case and apprehending one individual from Rajasthan on charges of criminal intimidation.

Arrest and Charges

The accused, identified as Banwarilal Laturlal Gujar from Bundi, Rajasthan, was arrested following a thorough investigation. According to a crime branch official, Gujar allegedly posted a threatening video on his YouTube channel, declaring his association with notorious gang members Lawrence Bishnoi, Goldy Brar, and others. In the video, he threatened to kill Salman Khan for not apologizing, creating a serious security concern.

Investigation and Arrest

Gujar's video, filmed on a highway in Rajasthan, prompted the Mumbai Police to send a team to the state for further investigation. The team successfully apprehended Gujar, and the case was registered at a cyber police station in Mumbai. The official noted, "We are checking if accused Gujar has any previous criminal background. He has been arrested under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 506, and provisions of the Information Technology Act. Further investigation is underway."

Background of the Incident

On April 14, two motorbike-borne men fired multiple rounds outside Salman Khan's Bandra residence in the early hours. Following the incident, six individuals were arrested. Among them, Anuj Thapan allegedly hanged himself in police custody on May 1.

Related Arrests and Ongoing Investigations

In a separate but related case, the Navi Mumbai Police arrested five individuals, including a suspected member of the Bishnoi and Goldy Brar gangs from Haryana, for plotting an attack on Salman Khan. Four gang members were reported to have surveilled Khan's farmhouse in Panvel, his home in Bandra, and various filming locations.

Lawrence Bishnoi, the alleged mastermind behind these plots, is currently imprisoned in Sabarmati Central Prison in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, for a different case. The Mumbai Police plan to move a court to seek his custody for further questioning related to the firing incident. Additionally, Bishnoi's brother, Anmol, believed to be in Canada, has been listed as a wanted accused in this case.

Conclusion: Increased Security and Vigilance

As the investigation progresses, Mumbai Police remain vigilant, ensuring increased security measures around Salman Khan and his properties. The recent arrest of Banwarilal Laturlal Gujar and the ongoing efforts to bring other culprits to justice highlight the serious nature of these threats and the dedicated response of law enforcement agencies to protect the public and high-profile individuals like Salman Khan.
