Farah Khan’s Parenting Philosophy
In a heartfelt conversation with actress Rubina Dilaik on her YouTube show, Farah discussed her approach to raising teenage children in today’s fast-paced world. Despite her high-profile career, she remains deeply involved in her children's upbringing.
Farah, who married editor-director Shirish Kunder in 2004, welcomed her triplets—Czar, Diva, and Anya—in 2008 through in vitro fertilization (IVF). Now 17, her children are preparing for their transition to college next year.
Keeping Her Kids Grounded
Despite their teenage years, Farah proudly shared that her children remain focused on academics and family values. "They are 17 going on 12," she joked, highlighting their preference for a simple family dinner over partying at a club for their recent birthday celebration.
She also mentioned that her daughters have never been to a club and have yet to explore makeup or beauty routines such as getting their eyebrows done, as they remain engrossed in their studies.
A Strict But Loving Approach
When Rubina, a new mother to twin daughters, asked whether she had intentionally kept her children away from certain influences, Farah responded, "No, I am just a strict mom. They cannot go wherever they want without me tracking them."
However, she believes in maintaining a balance between discipline and open communication. "In the evening, we have a gossip chat. That way, I get to know what’s happening in their lives."
Stricter With Her Son
Farah admitted that she is stricter with her son, Czar, than with her daughters. "I have to explain things to him more than I do to the girls," she noted, emphasizing the importance of guiding him on how to interact with and respect women.
"I explain to him how he has to talk to girls, what he cannot say, and how his friends cannot talk about his sisters in a certain way. If they talk about girls in a disrespectful manner, he should not be a part of that conversation," she shared.
Preparing for the Future
As her children approach adulthood, Farah remains committed to instilling values of discipline, respect, and family bonding. With a firm yet loving approach, she continues to guide them toward becoming responsible and well-grounded individuals, ready to take on the real world.
