Shahid Kapoor has proved that he can carry a solo-hero film on his shoulders, and distributors now swear by him. After '36 Chinatown', 'Vivaah', and now the critically
acclaimed 'Jab We Met', Shahid is riding high on a wave of a hat-trick of successes.
In fact, 'Jab We Met' has joined the league of iconic romances like 'DDLJ' and 'HAHK'. Shahid is therefore the probable successor to romantic superstar heroes like Shah
Rukh Khan and Salman Khan, according to trade analysts.
The boy-next-door looks and the killer smile can give any superstar a run for his money. The young
actor has been flooded with offers from big banners, and is laughing all the way to the bank.
In the meantime, 'Jab We Met' has been declared one of the biggest grossers of the year. The print count has increased by almost 50 per cent in its second week.
Imtiaz Ali, the director of the boy-meets-girl movie, confirms that the response has been overwhelming.
"I expected a good turnout but frankly the way Jab We Met
has eventually performed at the box office is beyond my expectations too," he adds. He also beams with pride as he tells us that it is a big hit overseas as well.
