Santosh Sivan who has just done a short-film Prarambha on AIDS in Kannada for Mira Nair and whose recent film Navarasa in Tamil dealt with the grey world of eunuchs is on to a unique project that features the interesting ensemble cast of Rahul Bose, Rahul Khanna, Victor Bannerjee, Sareeka and Anupam Kher.

The film entitled Dastaan is Santosh's second in the Hindi language after the ill-fated Ashoka.

It would be unfair to give away the theme since it entails the security of the cast and crew. Suffice it to say Dastaan deals with a topical burning issue, just like Santosh's most celebrated film to date Terrorist.

Says Victor Bannerjee, "I'm shooting for the film in a volatile part of the country. I haven't done too many Hindi films besides Ram Gopal Varma's Bhoot and more recently Tara Rum Pum. I've certainly never done a film like Dastaan. It's a powerful theme. And Santosh is a master-craftsman."
