Madhuri Dixit said she has been humbled by the honour of a Padmashri award and the announcement came as a wonderful surprise to her.

In a statement from Denver, US, where she is settled after marriage, Madhuri said, ''I wish to thank all the individuals, who have contributed to my success through the years, and the award is a reflection of their efforts.''

''I wish to thank the Government of India for considering me worthy of this honour, as well as thank patrons of arts and cinema around the world. I am deeply indebted to my motherland for having given me this opportunity,'' she added.
