After Anurag Basu, another director is panning his lens on life in the fast lane in cities and its impact on relationships. Rajaatesh Nayar's "Sirf" releases next month with the tagline, "life looks greener on the other side".

Nayar worked with Rajkumar Santoshi as an assistant in "China Gate", "Pukar" and "Lajja". Commenting on his directorial debut, Nayar said: "This film, as the tagline suggests, is very much about how life looks greener on the other side."

"Sometimes, we are not content with what we have and yearn for what others seem to have in their lives. We all are waiting for 'sirf (just)' one thing. This is what 'Sirf' all about," the filmmaker said.

"Sirf" portrays the life of four couples trying to match steps with life in the city and how its pace affects their relationships; how they deal with it and how the problems of one person brings comical relief to the other. No matter what happens, life has to go on.

While one couple has money, it is looking for love. The other has love but no money and the third couple is searching for trust. The fourth couple has to find time to nurture everything else that they have.

They all belong to different social segments and each couple has its own problems to deal with, but somewhere they all come across each other.

Kay Kay Menon-Manisha Koirala, Sonali Kulkarni-Ranbir Shorey, Parveen Dabbas-Rituparna Sengupta and Ankur Khanna-Nauheed Cyrusi play the couples. Nayar is quite pleased with the performances of all his actors.

He said: "They have all done fantastic jobs. It was great as a first-timer to work with such a highly competent star cast."

Kay Kay had earlier teamed up with Shilpa Shetty in Basu's "Life in a... Metro", which was again about high-speed life in the city and its consequent repercussions.

Sohail Sen and Shibani Kashyap have composed the music for the film and the cinematography is by Baba Azmi.
