Television actor and anchor Mona Singh, who shot to fame as the nerdy, bespectacled Jassi on TV, is making a conscious effort to stay away from regular soap operas based on family dramas.

'Nothing as refreshing and challenging as 'Jassi' is coming my way. Besides, these days whenever we switch on the television, we only get to see saas-bahu (mother-in-law/daughter-in-law) sagas.

'I don't want to do all that and the oodles of make-up and fights are just not for me,' Mona told on phone from Mumbai.

There are, however, chances that Mona would be seen in a serial produced by her beau and TV actor Karan Oberoi's recently launched production house Artistic Unlimited.

Mona has been quite unable to shed the image of Jassi, the character she played with aplomb in 'Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi'. But she isn't complaining.

'Jassi's image doesn't irritate me, I don't mind it. In fact, it was a beautiful role. I will always be ready to do such a role again.'

For Mona, who took to anchoring after winning Sony TV's reality dance show 'Jhalak Dikhla Jaa', acting is a passion but she enjoys hosting shows.

Currently, she is hosting another show, 'Naya Roop Nayi Zindagi' for the same channel.

'It's not that I prefer anchoring over acting, but by doing these shows I make my presence felt on TV. This way I am also associated with all A-grade shows,' she maintained.

Even though Mona does not want to be seen in the run-of-the-mill roles on TV, she says that she is considering a couple of movie offers.

'I have a couple of movie offers, but let me see what works out best,' she said.

Mona is looking forward to doing a role akin to Kareena's in 'Jab We Met'. But 'since it's already done', she says, she would have to be happy with something else.

On being asked whether the wedding bells are going to ring soon for Karan and her, she said in an unhesitant tone, 'Not as of now'.
