/> Hours after the 2-day Osian Film Festival concluded in Mumbai on Saturday, the Hyderabad-based producer Sudhish Rambhotla decided to change the ending of his authentic espionage thriller Mukbiir.

The decision was taken by the producer after gauging the response at the red carpet screening of the film on Saturday night where the tragic ending showing the hero Sammir Dattani being gunned down was screened.

Says Rambhotla, "Everyone after the screening at Osian on Saturday felt that the young hero deserves to live. He has suffered so much in life. Why end with death?

Also, I feel audiences didn't react too favourably to the hero's death in two recent films Sarkar Raj and Aamir. I feel audiences are in no mood to go home with a heavy heart.

Though the director Mani Shankar had insisted on the tragic ending I had made him shoot a happy ending which I'm now going to use."

There's another reason why the producer has decided to go with a happy ending.

"I always wanted to make a sequel to Mukhbiir. This was not possible if the hero died at the end of the first part ."

Director Mani Shankar still believes the tragic ending suits the film.
