Neetu Chandra has come up with her career best performance in Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! (though she isn't quite willing to take the compliment in entirety since she feels she was equally competent in Traffic Signal too) and media too has been unanimous in acknowledging her good performance in the film even though she has a relatively lesser role to play. Does she regret that she wasn't seen much in the film?

"Why should I", Neetu shoots back, "The film was called Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! and not 'Oye Sonal Sonal Oye'. I knew my role and how it added on to the film's soul. I am happy that I have justified my presence and good reviews coming my way are a testimony to that."

There have been some accusations though that she is just not being competitive by refusing to put on make up. On the other hand, her contemporaries are busy doing a lot more to look picture perfect in front of the camera.

"Surprising, isn't it, that the same set of media is forgetting that I willingly wore a swimsuit in my very first film Garam Masala", Neetu shoots back, "As an airhostess it was absolutely in sync with my character to wear the right costume on a beach.

I wasn't applying kohl there under my eyes, as I did in Traffic Signal where I had to look like a slum dweller. So why a question around me looking 'simple' in Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! ?" She also puts forth a question, "Should I, as a lower middle class girl, have worn a short skirt and accompanied my boyfriend Abhay Deol, a 'superchor', when he was busy stealing from every household in the vicinity? Nahi naa!?"

To give Neetu credit, she has looked naturally beautiful and pretty even though she had gone de-glamorous for her character.

Those in the know-how of cinema have stated that while refusing to apply makeup for her lower middle class girl look in Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! , she has instead been brave enough to make this choice even as stakes were really high for this UTV backed project.

"In any case putting or not putting make up is not a criteria for being a good or bad actor. At the end of the day, you are in the profession mainly because you should know how to act.

Show cleavage, wear short skirts, get into a bikini; it's all good but at least have some good role to accompany that as well", she says while hinting that she isn't averse to such costumes, "Tomorrow, if I get a meaty role to get into an ultra glam persona, I would be game for that as well. But first, get me that script please."
