Konkona Sen Sharma is an actress in Bollywood who has proved her potential. As this bong beauty turns 29 on 3rd Dec we take a close look at her Bollywood journey till now.

Konkona was born in a talented family her mother Aparna Sen is a well known, talented, A grade director and her dad is Mukul Sharma who is a science writer and a journalist.

She made her debut as a child artist in a film named Indira. She made her adult debut in a Bengali film Ek Je Aachhe Kanya, where she played a negative character and then she was seen in Rituporno Ghosh's film Titli opposite her mother Aparna Sen.

She was noticed from her mind-blowing performance in Mr. and Mrs. Iyer. She continued doing critically acclaimed niche cinema like Amu and Chai Pani.

Her performance of a journalist in Madhur Bhandarkar's Page 3 was appreciated in spite of the film not doing so well in the box-office. She won the Zee Cine Award Best Female Debut for this performance, which was her first act in commercial cinema.

Then came in even more acclaimed performances in 15th Park Avenue where she was again with her mother playing the character of a of a schizophrenic,a touching performance and then in Omkara, she received the both Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award and National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress.

Konkona was seen in Yun Hota Toh Kya Hota and Mixed Doubles after that. She then held her own against Bollywood heavyweights like Ajay Devgan, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor in Vishal Bhardwaj's adaptation of Othello, Omkara. She won her second National Award (in a span of four years) for the film, which was a critical and commercial success.

No matter what kind of a role she gets she always happens to do justice with her roles. She gets in to the skin of the character and then performs with lots of confidence which can hardly be seen in other Bollywood actresses. She is natural to the core.

In her entire career spam of six years she has been seen playing characters like Tam-Bram, a journalist, a confused housewife, a prostitute, a newly wed Bengali wife, a doting sister-in-law and innocent wife, a younger sister, among many others.

Even though the characters that she has played might seem unimportant but they have just added layers and depth to her career.

Konkona has a degree in English from St. Stephen's College, Delhi which she received in 2001. She was a student of the Modern High School for Girls, Calcutta, as well as the Calcutta International School and she has also hosted a show called My Brilliant Brain on NGC. This makes her different from the other bollywood glam dolls that are perfect examples of beauty without brains.

With her power house performances she has managed to bag roles with Dharma and Yash Raj productions. She will never be seen in Page 3 parties as she is amongst those who will let her work speak for her.

We are sure to see more of this bong beauty. She will be seen in lots of comedy in The President is coming, infidelity drama Dil Kabaddi, Dharma Productions' Wake up Sid opposite Ranbir Kapoor, Zoya Akhtar's Luck By Chance opposite Farhan Akhtar and Rituparno Ghosh's Sunglass among others.
