Rakesh Om Prakash Mehra, through his Rang De Basanti opened our eyes and made us sit up and notice this actor who had been in the business for some time but could never really make it big.

The actor seemed to be equally at ease with the comic and serious scenes in the film and has not had to look back since then.

If you are still wondering about whom we are talking about, meet Sharman Joshi whose career graph has been northbound since RDB. He has recently been in news for his new film Sorry Bhai.

In an exclusive interview he talks about his experience of working in the film and future plans.

Says Sharman, while describing his role in the film, "I am playing the role of a young scientist who is very happy and content in life. The twist in his life happens when he goes to the engagement ceremony of his elder brother and falls in love with his fiancée!

It is not one of the best situations to be in, but since it is in a film, I guess that is ok!" Directed by Onir, this is expected to be one of the coolest romantic comedies of the year. Sharman is very happy with the movie and the way his character has shaped up.

"One very interesting aspect about Onir's movies is the feeling you get after watching the casting – you feel it couldn't have been better – as if the script had been written with the actor in mind. Though he never discussed this with me, I feel his thought process while selecting me was no different."

The film is also Chitrangadha Singh's comeback vehicle. Sharman is extremely satisfied working with her. "Though this is her third film, if you look at the professional manner in which she carries herself and acts, you will think she is an industry veteran. I had a very good experience working with her."

Sanjay Suri, interestingly is a co-producer of Sorry Bhai, besides being one of the actors. "He has played both the roles very well. And if you have an actor as a producer, it helps in many ways because the producer understands your issues much better."

Sharman has been a Gujarati play veteran having done plays for more than eight years. It still is his passion. "It's a pity that I cannot make time for the plays any more. It has helped me a lot while acting in different roles.

My hands are full now, but I am still working on the script of a play. I get a different kind of satisfaction while working in plays, " explains Sharman.

He handsome hero is understandably not very pleased at missing Golmal Returns, despite his great performance in Golmal.

"I could not do the sequel of Golmal because of a clash in dates. I just could not manage to find the time. But, believe me, I was very sad at missing the project because the first part was so great. But I looked at it from a different perspective – perhaps something better is waiting for me!"

He is also quite sad at his recent release Hello not doing well. "It was a good film and all of us worked very hard for it. Somehow it failed to establish a connection with the audience. Though it did not do quite well in the box office, I feel it did provide a fillip in my career, " explains the actor.

However, it is not that everything has gone wrong for Sharman in the recent past. His commercial for Perk where he is deserted in an island along with a pretty lady has become very popular.

"It was a really well-made ad. The concept, the handling, the creative – everything was perfect. Though I am not running after ad films, but if I get something that is as good as this one then why not?" explains Sharman who underwent a makeup overhaul for the Perk ad.

Currently he is busy working for his next two releases—Toh Baat Pakki (along with Tabbu, Yuvika Chowdhury and Vatsal Sheth) and Allah Ke Bande (starring Naseerudding Shah, Zakir Hussain and Anjana Sukhani).
