Reports of Jodha Akbar receiving a BAFTA (The British Academy of Film and Television Arts) nomination in the foreign film category are incorrect, acting film awards officer of the academy, Deena Manley has
stated.
In an email Deena Manley states, "The reports that have appeared on several websites stating that Jodhaa-Akbar has received a BAFTA nomination are incorrect",
She further adds, "The film has, along with 236 other titles, been entered for the Orange British Academy Film Awards 2008, but this is not the same thing as a nomination and should not be referred to as such.
The nominations in most categories will be announced on 15 January.
The nominations for Film Not in the English Language (which Jodhaa Akbar is eligible for) will be announced on 7 January.
Jodhaa Akbar has strong chances of a nomination, but however, till the time nominations are announced, any such report could only be termed as speculation."
What leaves us surprised is then why did the makers sent out press release about their film being nominated for the prestigious British Awards just a few days back.
