He has shared screen space with Aamir Khan as a child actor in hit films like "Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke" and "Raja Hindustani". Now Kunal Khemu says he would love to feature alongside the superstar again after 13 long years.

"I would love to work with Aamir again. I shared screen space with him as a child actor and I want to experience that again, " Kunal told over telephone from Mumbai.

The 25-year-old, who debuted as a lead actor with Mahesh Bhatt's critically acclaimed "Kalyug", is awe-struck by Aamir's performance in "Ghajini" and says it would be wonderful if he got the opportunity to portray a character like that.

Kunal was lauded as a child actor in films like "Hum Hain Rahi Pyaar Ke", "Zakhm" and "Tamanna", but after the success of "Kalyug", his other films like "Traffic Signal", "Dhol" and "Superstar" failed to set the cash registers ringing. The actor, however, is unperturbed.

"I never regret what I do. I'm very proud of every work I have done. Success of a film is not only based on the film being good or bad. A lot of other factors are involved as well, " Kunal said.

The young actor has signed on quite a few comedies now, but he insists it was not a conscious decision to be part of only comic capers.

"As an actor I get opportunities to do different kind of films. It's not that if I have done a few comedies, I'm averse to other roles or genres. It's just that I go for the films I like and incidentally some of them have been comedies, " he explained.

Kunal's forthcoming laugh-riots are "Dhoondte Reh Jaoge" and "99" with Soha Ali Khan and "Jai Veeru" with Fardeen Khan, Dia Mirza and Anjana Sukhani.

Was the transition from being a child star to a lead actor easy?

"I learnt a lot as a child actor. Since I had been before the camera, I knew how it would be to be on a set or on a shoot. That way it was easy for me when I re-entered the industry as the main lead.

"But at the same time, it was also difficult because there are so many wrong notions doing the rounds like how child actors don't do well as adult actors. But I never let such concepts affect me. I only do my work, " Kunal said.

While big stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar are making inroads in the TV industry, Kunal says he has no plans of turning to the small screen in the near future.

"As of now it's only films I want to focus on; so in the near future I don't think I will take the plunge. But you never know about the future, " said Kunal, who was part of television serial "Gul Gulshan Gulfam" as a child.
