According to a report, ‘Slumdog' kid Azharuddin Mohammad was brutally beaten by his father when he refused to meet the media and the other people gathered outside his house to congratulate him.

It so happened that the kid was too tired and wasn't able to get out of his hut to pay a visit to the people waiting for him. His father lost his temper on this and started randomly beating up the kid.

The neighbours who were witnessing the incident came to the young lad's rescue and bought the situation under control. The father later apologized everyone for his misdeed and added he was out of control.

Azharuddin who donned the role of young Salim in Danny Boyle's Oscar winning flick ‘Slumdog Millionaire', had landed back in Mumbai yesterday.. Azharuddin and his co-star Rubina dwelling the same slums were earlier promised by the Government of Maharastra that they would be granted with a new luxurious apartment and the location is yet unknown.
