Shah Rukh Khan visited Bylakuppe and sought the blessings of Buddhist spiritual leader Dalai Lama, ahead of the release of his movie Ashoka The Great based on Buddhism.

Shah Rukh flew in to Bylakuppe, a Tibetan settlement area, in a private helicopter from Bangalore on August 1. He had a personal audience with the Dalai Lama. He was accompanied by Jay Mehta, an industrialist and husband of actress Juhi Chawla.

Shah Rukh later said he had come to Bylakuppe to seek the blessings of the spiritual leader as his movie "Ashok" was soon to be released.
