Superstar Mammootty set a right example in front of the people when he refused to vote without his mandatory electoral identification card even when the polling officer gave him the permission to do so.

It so happened that the actor rushed from his film Daddy Cool's shooting to cast his vote in his No 86 booth in a school at Eelamkulam, in Ernakulam on Thursday morning. But it was only after being asked the officers that he realized that he hasn't got his card with him.

He called up at his residence and it took around twenty minutes before the card reached to him. Until then the crowd started gathering in huge numbers to witness the star and the polling officers in fear that this could affect the polling process asked him to cast his vote without the card.

But Mammootty refused them saying that his experience will remind other people that before coming to vote they must ensure that they have their voters ID with them.

He then told the media that that there is nothing wrong with the happenings and that every citizen must exercise their franchise before starting to criticize the system.

Mammootty proved that he is not only an off-screen hero but a hero in real life too, looking at whom people can get inspired.
