Ashutosh Gowarikar is indeed a very happy man today. His film Lagaan has won accolades in India and now internationally too. The film has won the award in the prestigious Locarno film festival held in Switzerland. It got the popular audience award and Ashutosh was present at the awards ceremony to receive it.

The director`s hard work has paid off. The film has attracted the masses and also bagged a prestigious international award, the Prix Du Public or the Public`s Choice award.The film`s director Ashutosh Gowariker was present in the ceremony to receive the award, and now he is back in India. It is the first Hindi film to bag an international award this year. "I am very happy that Lagaan has got the Prix Du Public award which is actually the most prestigious award in terms of public popularity," expressed, director, Ashutosh Gowariker.
