Television producers seem to be running short of original titles. They are picking up phrases from film songs and turning them into titles for their shows. "Chak Dhoom Dhoom", "Bairi Piya", "Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai" and "Tujh Sang Preet Lagayi Sajana" are just a few examples.

The front-runners are shows on STAR Plus - "Tujh Sang Preet Lagayi Sajana", "Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat", "Tere Mere Sapne", "Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai" and soon to be launched "Sasural Genda Phool".

While "Tujh sang preet lagayi sajna" was a song in the 1982 film "Kaamchor", two versions each using phrases 'Raja ki aayegi baraat' and 'Tere mere sapne' have been heard in Bollywood.

"Raja ki aayegi baraat rangeeli hogi raat" was a famous song in the 1953 film "Aah". Later, in 1997, actress Rani Mukerji was seen dancing on "Raja ki aayegi baraat mere aangan mein" in the film "Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat".

"Tere mere sapne ab ek rang hain" is an evergreen number picturised on Dev Anand and Waheeda Rahman in "Guide" (1965). The phrase 'tere mere sapne' was used once again in the title song, "Tere mere sapne khile, yaaron ke dil mile", of the Arshad Warsi-starrer comic flick "Tere Mere Sapne" in 1996.

"Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai" has been picked from the song of the same name from the film "Meenaxi", while the title "Sasural genda phool" is inspired by the song from Abhishek Bachchan's "Delhi-6".

Other channels like Sony, Colors and SAB too seem to be following suit.

The titles of Sony's newly-launched "Mahi Way" and "Lift Kara De" seem to be inspired by the songs "Mahi ve" from Karan Johar's "Kal Ho Naa Ho" and Adnan Sami's pop number "Lift kara de" respectively.

The title of Colors' show "Bairi Piya" is taken from the song "Bairi piya" in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Devdas". The name of their soon-to-begin children's dance reality show "Chak Dhoom Dhoom" has also been taken from "Chak dhoom dhoom" - the hit number from "Dil Toh Pagal Hai".

UTV Bindass' reality show "Emotional Atyachaar's" title has been lifted from Dev D's famous song "Tera Emosional Atyachaar".

There are also shows like "Sajan Re Jhoot Mat Bolo" and "Love Ne Mila Di Jodi, " whose titles have been inspired by film songs.
