Movie lovers can heave a sigh of relief with the release of 'Bird Idol', 'City of Gold', 'Kuchh Kariye' and 'Muskurake Dekh Zara'. Why, one may ask, since none of these films survived even a week at the box office?

Well, that's because majority of these were the ones that belonged to 'come today gone tomorrow' category and barely managed to find a slot for themselves before biggies starting arriving with 'Housefull'.

Now that each of these films is finally out, it's a matter of celebration for the industry because hopefully, collective failure of each of these films would be the last leg of the disastrous 2010 that Bollywood has been exposed to so far.

Did each of these films deserve to be total washouts though?

Not really because 'City of Gold' did carry enough merits to at least manage face saving collections. However, just as it happened in case of 'Lahore' a few weeks back, sometimes a few good movies too get totally ignored due to lack of awareness and too big a crowd and same happened in case of 'City of Gold' as well.

One wonders if the film would do anything good on home video front as well since it doesn't belong to the kind that promises family entertainment.5 minutes before start

As for 'Kuch Kariye', it is the last that one may have seen of Sukhwinder Singh on the big screen.

With a pathetic performance to showcase, the actor has been totally rejected by those few hundred people across the country who may have had a dekko at the film.

'Bird Idol' has just added to the pile of animation films that have been box office disasters and may soon find itself playing on the cartoon channels. 'Muskurake Dekh Zara' may not manage that fate as well with no medium, whether home entertainment or satellite, expected to be enthusiastic about picking it up.5 minutes before start

This is the reason why the makers of 'Apartment' are ecstatic because despite a huge crowd surrounding the film's release, it has managed to hold its own and manage decent collections. Made on a controlled budget, the film has managed to recover cost from various mediums, hence turning out to be a safe venture for all.
