Five films release this week - 'Bumm Bumm Bole', 'Admissions Open', 'Kushti', 'Do Dilon Ke Khel Mein' and 'Vroom' - and frankly, none of the five are expected to make any impact whatsoever at the box office.

Let's talk about 'Bumm Bumm Bole' first. Really, what's going on in the minds of the makers here? If you want to release a film, then release it properly or do not do so at all. Why such an attempt which doesn't even come close to being half hearted?

When you have Priyadarshan as the director, Darsheel Safary as the central protagonist who would be seen on the big screen more than two years after 'Taare Zameen Par' and a genre (children's film) which is not yet explored to its fullest in Bollywood, the least one would wish for is excellent promotion that would at least help the film get noticed.

However, there has been none of it with the film getting an outright step motherly treatment. No one seems to be interested in the film whether it is the makers, director, distributors, exhibitors and most importantly, the viewers.

With zero awareness around the film, ongoing run of 'Badmaash Company' and 'Housefull' and 'Kites' releasing next week, the fate is already sealed for 'Bumm Bumm Bole'. Don't expect anything better than a 20%-30% start here.

As for the other four releases of the week - 'Admissions Open', 'Kushti', 'Do Dilon Ke Khel Mein' and 'Vroom' - they would be lucky to even come close to 20% mark.

Expect empty houses to greet these four films which boast of nil star cast, patchy promotion and zero buzz. Minimal cost that has gone into the making of these films also tells on the frames that have been put on display via promos.

Making a comment on the education system, 'Admissions Open' appears to be a yawn fest while 'Kushti' is a comedy starring Khali and Rajpal Yadav which isn't quite expected to bring in smiles on the faces of anyone involved.

'Do Dilon Ke Khel Mein' has already seen a number of reschedules in its release. Not that audience can be expected to care much for this non-starrer.

As for 'Vroom', a film about a wonder car, it has come out of nowhere and is headed in the same direction.

Will they manage to survive a week at the box office? Seems unlikely.
