Maddy is now part of yet another film based on the education system

Madhavan agreed to get Faltu for Vashu Bhagnani because of his old association with the producer. The project is meant to relaunch the filmmaker's son Jackky after his disastrous debut Kal Kissne Dekha last year.

Almost a decade ago, Madhavan's first Hindi film outing was in Vashu's production Rehnaa Hai Tere Dil Mein with Saif Ali Khan and Diya Mirza as co-stars.

Says a source, "He gave his nod because of this old link. After featuring in the hugely successful 3 Idiots, he was not keen to star in another film that also takes on the education system and career choices."

Adds the source, "Sharman Joshi was also approached for the same role. But after doing 3 Idiots he said a firm no."

Directed by choreographer Remo, Faltu has last year's Miss India Pooja Chopra make her debut opposite Jackky. Akshay Kumar plays a stellar role in the movie. As reported 'Akki steps into Sanju's Faltu shoes' (Hitlist, March 25), Akshay had been roped in by Bhagnani instead of Sanjay Dutt for the role of a professor.

Madhavan is currently shooting in Punjab for Tanu Weds Manu. His spokesperson states, "Madhavan is doing the film. But it is too early to talk about Faltu."

The film is slated to go on the floors later this month.
