Just before leaving for the Cannes Film Festival, Aishwarya Rai suffered an eye infection. There was no way the actress would be on the red carpet with a red eye! As a result she needed urgent medical care.

Along with her mother Vrinda Rai, Ash was spotted at the Lilavati Hospital, Bandra, last Monday afternoon.

Says an eyewitness, "Aishwarya was wearing huge, dark glares. Her mother escorted her. In spite of the glares and her attempts to remain as inconspicuous as ever, she was easily recognised. But no one went up to her and let her be as it was the hospital corridor."

Adds the onlooker, "Everyone spoke about Aishwarya in hushed tones and soon word spread about the reason behind the visit. She was seen visiting eye specialist Dr Himanshu Mehta in the hospital."

Apparently, the star's recent hectic schedules, along with the heat had taken a toll on her eyes causing an infection. After a check-up she was seen immediately leaving the hospital.

Priyanka too!
Priyanka Chopra has also battled with eye infections. As reported 'Priyanka takes a red eye flight' (Hitlist, December 29), the actress suffered from an eye ailment just before she was to leave for the US schedule of Anjaana Anjaani. Earlier in 2009, too, she had stated on Twitter "Hey, hey tweeple!!! Distressed today... have a mad red eye!!! It sucks."
