Her demands to production house irked them

After directing the 2006 Sushmita Sen-starrer Zindaggi Rocks and Hope And A Little Sugar with Mahima Chaudhry, Tanuja has been missing in action from B-Town.

After a gap the director was finally slated to start filming her next Woh Pyar Hi Tha, penned by her writer mother Kamna Chandra. She had pencilled in Rajeev Khandelwal and Vir Das in the cast and was on the lookout for an actress. The film was to go on the floors this month that was pushed back to later in the year. But the latest is that the project is not happening.

Says a source, "The film was to be produced by Anuj Saxena's Maverick Productions. Her insistence on several aspects of the project and casting did her in. The production house raised questions about the film's viability when the estimated budget started going haywire due to her demands."

When asked about the project Tanuja however maintains, "I can't talk about it. A little later I will be able to." Tanuja was keen to make Woh Pyar Hi Tha for quite a while. This project was a love story set in a north Indian town with real people.

Family ties
Tanuja Chandra is the sister of author Vikram Chandra and film writer Anupama Chopra who is married to filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra. Her mother Kamna Chandra has penned films like Raj Kapoor's Prem Rog and Yash Chopra's Chandni.
