Veteran Bollywood director and producer Yash Chopra has been conferred an Honorary Doctorate Degree in London
recently. The School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) has conferred the degree to Chopra. So, he may be
known as Doctor Yash Chopra now.
SOAS is one of the first higher education institutions that provide a course in Hindi cinema. It has recognized the
exceptional contribution of Yash Chopra to Indian cinema in his six decade long career in the industry.
On the other hand, Yash Chopra is a strong supporter of the British university and is a member of its International
Advisory Board.
The Bollywood fans there got a chance to attend 'An Audience with Yash Chopra' following the graduation ceremony.
A Hindi film academic Professor Rachel Dwyer, who also penned Yash Chopra: Fifty Years in Indian Cinema, hosted
it.
Rachel Dwyer said, "Yashji is a living legend, who is still busy in shaping the future of the Hindi film industry".
The veteran filmmaker, who has been in the industry for more than five decades, predicted Ranbir Kapoor to be the
next superstar in the industry.
Dr. Chopra also informed about his next project, which he will directed after Veer Zara in 2004. He said, "At the
moment, I am still scripting a story for the film, which will be definitely a romantic one. Until the script is ready, I
cannot say anything about the star cast or when I will start it".
