Balki is finishing a script that he intends to cast Meryl or the B-Town actress in, opposite the Big B

R Balki is lending finishing touches to a romance he's scripting with Amitabh Bachchan in mind. For the female lead, it seems the director has his heart set on Meryl Streep. The only other option is Sridevi.

Says a source, "Balki is actually working on two scripts. One of them is a cross-cultural love story. The other is a desi romance about two people past the supposedly permissible age of romance. The director would opt for Sridevi if Meryl Streep doesn't work out."

However, Balki shoots down any talk of difficulties getting through to Meryl Streep. "That's the least of my worries. Getting an international star is not half as difficult as it is made out to be. My concern is to make sure that the script justifies the casting, " says Balki.

Says Bachchan, "Balki has not spoken to me yet about this. But we are meeting soon to discuss the matter. Nothing has been decided yet."
