Abhishek Bachchan's spate of good fortune started with Mani Ratnam's "Yuva". "You've no idea how popular that role became. Even now I'm called out Lallan by fans on the road," he says.

Interestingly, Lallan was the first of Abhishek's three Bihari characters. He plays a Bihari in Rituparno Ghosh's Bengali "Antarmahal" and then in Aparna Sen's Hindi "Gulel".

"I seem to be bonded to Bihar," he smiles. "I've done a Bengali film 'Des' with my mom. And now Ritu's film. Though in neither do I speak Bengali."

While "Phir Milenge" got him the laurels, it's his other release "Dhoom" that has brought Abhishek a belated blockbuster. Reading new scripts, meeting a queue of producers, Abhishek doesn't seem to be overwhelmed by the success of "Dhoom".

"I'm quite amazed by the reactions it has evoked. Not just me, but all of us - John Abraham, Uday Chopra, Esha Deol and Rimi Sen - are going to benefit from the film."

This isn't the first time Abhishek has played a cop. "I played a cop in 'Zameen', and that too did well. I guess the colour khaki is lucky for me," he smiles heading for an appointment with buddy Rohan Sippy who's planning a road comedy with Abhishek and Saif Ali Khan.

What about a love life? "I'm blissfully single and enjoying every minute of my work," shoots Abhishek.
