While the RGV production Rakta Charitra opened to good reviews from critics on Friday morning, everyone is not satisfied with the film, which supposedly was the result of a furore in the Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh. Reports claim that politicians from TDP have launched protests against the film and have asked for a ban on its screening in theaters across the state as the film shows their leader N T Rama Rao in a bad light.

Rakta Charitra, which hit theaters across the country on Friday, revolves around the feuds which took place in the Anantapur districts almost thirty years back, a period when the feudal warlords' unleashed violence on their subjects.

It is being said that Ram Gopal Verma's Rakta Charitra portrays N T Rama Rao as one such warlord who propagated violence in his state. Shatrughan Sinha plays N T Rama Rao, while Vivek Oberoi is seen in the role of minister Paritala Ravi who is killed by a hired goon of N T Rama Rao.

Y V B Rajendra Prasad from the TDP has vehemently protested against the scenes in Rakta Charitra which show the politician in a bad light, terming Ram Gopal Verma as a sadist. In a statement to the media, Rajendra Prasad says that through Rakta Charitra, Ramu has not only shown his disrespect towards human emotions, but also hurt TDP party workers and followers of the politician Rama Rao.

Last heard, police have been stationed at important areas around the Anantapur district and there has also been a lathicharge between the TDP workers and police.
