Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Digvijay Singh, former RSS chief K.S. Sudarshan and TV actress Rakhi Sawant have one thing in common. They have all been dragged to court in Madhya Pradesh.

Cases were filed against the two Congress leaders for comparing the Hindu rightwing Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) with the Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) and Lashkar-e-Taiba in Indore Tuesday.

RSS activist Mukesh Pedwa filed a case under Section 500 and 153 of the Indian Penal Code in the court of first class judicial magistrate D.K. Singh against the Congress leaders, said his lawyer Minesh Pandey. The court fixed Nov 22 as the date of hearing.

Rahul Gandhi had reportedly said at a press conference in Bhopal Oct 5: "I know only that both SIMI and RSS are fanatical and hold fundamentalist views."

Former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Digvijay Singh had reportedly said at a seminar Nov 12 in Nagpur: "Take the example of the Lashkar-e-Taiba. When it was banned, it floated another organisation called the Jamat-ud-Dawa, and continued to operate under a different name." Similarly, a ban on the RSS is no solution, he said.

In a different incident, Indore resident Sailendra Divedi filed a petition in the court of first class judicial magistrate Brajesh Goyal against former RSS chief K.S. Sudarshan for his widely-condemned remarks against Congress chief Sonia Gandhi.

"Sudarshan's remarks not only harm national integrity but also insult the women of our country, " said Divedi. In this case, the court set Dec 13 as the hearing date.

A case was also filed against television actress Rakhi Sawant, her show "Rakhi ka Insaaf" and Imagine TV in Indore. Kishore Murmat petitioned the court of first class judicial magistrate Bhupender Nakwal. Nov 25 was fixed as the date of hearing.

In Bhopal, one Shamsul Hasan filed a case against Colors TV channel for showing vulgarity on the show "Bigg Boss" and for cheating in the name of a reality show by solemnising the marriage of Sara Khan and Ali Merchant who were already married.

Taking cognizance of the issue, the Bhopal civil court has served notice on the CEO of Colors to remain present Friday, said Hasan's advocate Yawar Khan.
